Elite Hinge & Roller Replacement: The Boca Raton Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Elite-compatible hinge and roller replacement parts across Boca Raton, and most single-gate replacements run between $180 and $420 installed, depending on the hinge style and whether the roller brackets are still sound. We carry OEM Elite parts plus a tight selection of aftermarket equivalents we’ve tested on Florida gates. Same-day service is usually available when we have the part on the truck, which we do for the most common Elite swing-gate hinge configurations.
Most owners discover the problem the same way: a gate that starts dragging on the driveway, a squeal that gets worse every week, or a visible sag at the latch side. By the time the gate is scraping the pavers, the hinge bushing or roller bearing has already been wearing for months. The good news is this is one of the most straightforward repairs on an Elite system, and it’s one we document heavily: you get photos of the old part, the new part, and the final alignment before we leave.
Which Elite Models This Applies To
Elite swing-gate openers, which is the brand’s core residential line, use a hinge-and-roller configuration on the gate leaf itself. The models we most often see in Boca Raton are the Elite SL-3000 and the Mirage series, but the hinge hardware is shared across most Elite residential swing-gate kits. The key identifier is the hinge barrel diameter. Elite residential hinges typically measure 1-5/8 inches or 2 inches outside diameter, and the roller bracket bolt pattern is 3 inches on center. Measure those two things before you order anything online. A 1-5/8 inch hinge will not fit a bracket drilled for 2 inches without an adapter, and adapters on gate hinges are a weak point we’d rather not install.
On OEM versus aftermarket: Elite’s own hinges are powder-coated steel with a greasable bushing, and they are good parts. The aftermarket equivalents we carry are machined to the same barrel diameter with sealed bearings, which actually hold up better in Boca Raton’s salt air and afternoon downpours. If your gate is within a mile of the Intracoastal, we’ll steer you toward a sealed-bearing replacement regardless of brand. The one part we recommend keeping OEM is the roller wheel itself; Elite’s wheel profile matches its track, and off-brand wheels can ride high and bind.
Signs Your Elite Hinge & Roller Replacement Is Failing

- The gate scrapes or drags at the latch end. This is almost always a worn hinge bushing. The gate leaf drops a quarter inch or more, and the latch side catches on the paver or the receiver plate.
- A metal-on-metal squeal when the gate moves. The grease has washed out of the bushing, or the bearing has gone dry and started to gall. In Boca’s humidity, this happens faster than the manufacturer’s service interval suggests.
- The gate shudders or hesitates halfway through its travel. A flat spot on the roller wheel or debris in the track makes the operator work harder. You’ll hear the motor change pitch, which is the first sign the roller is binding.
- Visible rust staining below the hinge barrel. That’s the tell that water has gotten inside the hinge and the bearing is rusting from within. Once it starts, replacement is usually cheaper than trying to pack new grease in.
- The gate bounces when it closes. A worn roller lets the gate move laterally as it seats, so it hits the stop and rebounds. The opener’s limit switch is fine; the mechanical slop is at the hinge or roller.
Before
AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Boca Raton, a hinge-only replacement on an Elite gate typically runs $180 to $260 installed. Adding a roller wheel and re-aligning the gate brings most jobs to $250 to $350. Full hinge-and-roller sets on both leaves of a double gate run $380 to $420 when the brackets are reusable. If the bracket itself is bent or the mounting holes are wallowed out, we’ll quote a new bracket plate at the time of the estimate, and you’ll see that line item before we touch the gate.
Every quote is written, not verbal. Under Haven Standard Clause 1, the price you see is the price you pay, and we hand it to you before any work starts. The price includes the part, the labor, the alignment check, and a photo record of what came off and what went on. We also check the hinge mounting post for movement while we’re there; a good hinge on a shifting post is a future repair, not a fixed one.
DIY or Call Us?

If you want to understand the failure before calling, you can safely check two things: measure the hinge barrel diameter and look for a visible gap or rust trail at the bushing. That helps you talk to any contractor with confidence. What we don’t recommend is unbolting a loaded gate hinge yourself. An Elite swing gate leaf can weigh 250 to 400 pounds, and once a hinge is removed, that weight has to be supported and kept square. A gate that shifts during a DIY hinge swap can bind the bracket, damage the operator arm, or worse.
The roller side is less dangerous but more frustrating than it looks, because the track has to be perfectly level for the new wheel to seat. Half the calls we take for “new roller still sticking” are a track that was never checked. If any of this sounds like more than you want to take on, call us at (754) 666-7602 and we’ll get it done, documented, and aligned the same visit.
FAQs
In our experience, Elite hinges and rollers last 5 to 8 years in Boca’s coastal climate before showing wear. Houses within a mile of the beach or Intracoastal tend toward the short end of that range because salt air corrodes the bearing surfaces. If your gate is exposed and unshaded, expect to replace hinges around the five-year mark regardless of brand.
A dry but intact bushing can sometimes be re-greased and run for another year, but once the barrel diameter has worn more than about a sixteenth of an inch, replacement is the only fix. We’ll tell you which situation you have before we quote anything. Call (754) 666-7602 and we’ll take a look.
Most single-gate Elite hinge and roller replacements take between one and two hours on site. Double gates take a little longer because both leaves have to be aligned together. We carry the common Elite hinge sizes and roller wheels on the truck, so we can usually handle the job same day.
We stock the most common Elite residential hinge sizes and roller wheels, and we also keep sealed-bearing aftermarket equivalents for coastal installations. If your gate has an uncommon configuration, we’ll order the exact part and schedule the install once it arrives. We also stock parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls if you’re troubleshooting more than one gate.
