Mighty Mule Keypad & Intercom Repair: The Boca Raton Owner’s Guide

We stock and install Mighty Mule-compatible keypads and intercom modules throughout Boca Raton, with most replacements running $185 to $420 installed depending on whether we’re swapping just the keypad or the full intercom board. Same-day service is available for keypad-only failures; intercom board replacements may require a 24-hour part pull if your model is older than five years. The typical discovery is quiet: the keypad lights but doesn’t trigger the gate, or the intercom rings but the audio is dead, and the owner spends a weekend checking batteries that were never the problem.

Call (754) 666-7602

Most Boca Raton owners call us after the keypad has been exposed to one too many salt-air seasons or afternoon thunderstorms. The failure is rarely the gate motor itself. It’s the access point that sits in the weather year-round.

Which Mighty Mule Models This Applies To

We service the full Mighty Mule lineup that uses external keypad and intercom accessories: the MM371W, MM372W, MM571W, MM572W, and the newer MM600 and MM700 series. The compatibility gotcha most owners hit: Mighty Mule changed keypad wiring harnesses between the FM-series (older) and MM-series (newer) control boards, so a keypad purchased for an FM500 won’t communicate with an MM572W board without a retrofit harness. We know which harness your serial number needs before we arrive.

We also work on Ghost Controls, LiftMaster, and DoorKing keypads, so if your gate was retrofitted with a different brand’s access panel, we can match that too.

Original equipment (OEM) Mighty Mule keypads run about $90 to $160 for the part alone. Quality aftermarket equivalents from brands like North Shore Commercial Door run $45 to $85 and hold up roughly the same in Florida weather. The honest difference: OEM parts come with a Mighty Mule-specific mounting plate and weather seal. We stock both and will tell you which makes sense for your model rather than steering you one way.

Signs Your Mighty Mule Keypad & Intercom Is Failing

Signs Your Mighty Mule Keypad & Intercom Is Failing
  • Keypad lights but gate doesn’t move. The keypad is transmitting, but the control board isn’t receiving the signal. This is usually a wiring harness or a failed relay on the main board, not the keypad itself.
  • Intermittent entry: works in the morning, dead by afternoon. Florida heat expands the solder joints on older keypad boards. When the temp climbs past 90, the connection breaks. When it cools, it reconnects. We see this weekly in the neighborhoods around Mizner Park.
  • Intercom rings but no audio from the pedestal. The speaker element has corroded. Even sealed units let moisture in over three to five Boca Raton summers.
  • Keypad beeps but only some digits register. Carbon contacts under the silicone keypad face wear unevenly. The “0” and “#” usually go first because those are the most-pressed keys on an entry code.
  • Gate opens, then won’t stop beeping. The keypad’s anti-tamper switch is stuck in the “open” position, usually from insects nesting inside the housing. Common with keypads mounted at gate-post base height.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Boca Raton, a Mighty Mule keypad-only replacement runs $185 to $280 installed. A full keypad with intercom module runs $320 to $420 installed. The spread depends on whether we’re working with an OEM part or aftermarket equivalent, whether the wiring harness is intact, and whether your existing mounting location needs a new weather seal or replacement fasteners.

Every quote is written before we touch a tool, under Haven Standard Clause 1. You’ll see the part price, the labor hours, and the total before you approve anything. That price is the price; we don’t come back at the end with a surprise line item.

The work is covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise. If that keypad fails within a year for any reason related to our install, we fix it at no charge. You also get a documented photo record of the completed install: part number, wiring connections, and the final mounted unit, so future service calls don’t start from zero.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: verify the keypad has fresh batteries if it’s a wireless model, confirm the gate operator still works from the main remote or wall button, and look for obvious physical damage like a cracked housing or missing keys. Those checks cost you nothing and help us diagnose faster when you call.

What you shouldn’t do is open a hard-wired keypad or intercom pedestal and start swapping wires. These units tap directly into your gate’s low-voltage control board, and crossing the wrong two terminals can fry a $300 board in about half a second. We’ve replaced boards that owners accidentally shorted with a screwdriver. That’s a $450 mistake that a $185 service call would have prevented.

If you’ve checked the batteries and the gate still won’t open from the keypad, call us at (754) 666-7602. We’ll ask for the model number on the control board, confirm what we think the issue is, and give you a written price before we dispatch a technician.
